This brilliant revolt

It wasn't a racist vote. It wasn't a vote against foreigners. It wasn't a desperate cry of the 'left behind', pleading with middle-class Londoners to listen for a change. It was a vote to enlarge the democratic life of the nation. It was a vote to wrest control away from unelected bureaucrats and return it to those over whom we the people have a more direct form of democratic control.
