The Revelation of Prigs

The issue is not whether Prime Minister Boris or President Don are liars; nor is this editorial about to deny lies, or claim that lies are now a "moral good". They are not. The truth is, however, that the sinful elitists didn't talk about lying much until the sinful populists began to win elections. The elite didn't tend to pontificate on personal morality until a potential swing-vote appeared whose vestigial Christian virtue was capable of denying them power.

Today's Evangelicals are not such moral neophytes to ask, "What is lying?" But which vaunted Rhodes Scholar was it, precisely, who once answered, "it depends on what the meaning of is, is"?
