Oslo and the Islamist threat to gay life


A suspected Islamist terrorist shot up a gay bar on the eve of Pride. Where's the anger? Whatever we come to learn about the Oslo shooting, it remains an attack not just on gay people or Norwegian people, but also on our common humanity and the values of freedom and tolerance. At the same time, it reminds us that of all the political ideologies that might threaten gay life today, Islamist extremism is both among the most deadly and the most wilfully ignored.
