Canada plans to welcome more than 1,000,000 new immigrants in the next three years

The Canadian Parliament has announced plans to add more than one million new permanent residents in the next three years. That's nearly one percent of the country's population each year. The population of Canada is 36.71 million. The population of the United States is 325.7 million. So, this would be comparable to the U.S. bringing in 8,700,000 immigrants.
