Chicago suffered extensive rioting damage last night. Unlike the 1960s and '70s black riots, in which blacks burned down their own neighborhoods, last night they plundered Chicago's most upscale neighborhoods. Yesterday, I constantly heard sirens out my windows. I also heard four helicopters overhead all day. Not until the evening did I become aware of the extensive damage. From what I read, every store on Michigan Avenue, Chicago's Magnificent Mile, had its windows broken and many were looted. The windows of many stores and office buildings in downtown Chicago were also broken. Chicago City Hall also had windows busted.
