A Spanish government that deliberately dismantled its last border deterrent, knowing the predictable result, enabled a manufactured 60,000-strong Moroccan invasion of Ceuta that locked its own citizens in their homes amid looting and violence—the latest act in a 1,300-year pattern of conquest by settlement.

In 1966, Marxist theorists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven published “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty” in The Nation. Their strategy was not to win elections. It was to deliberately overload a system, in their case, the welfare rolls, past its administrative and fiscal capacity, forcing a crisis that would compel the wholesale restructuring of the political order. Crisis, not incompetence, was the mechanism.

The purpose of these state policies, stemming from the UN and its “Migration Compact of 2018”, is not about which party wins the next Spanish election. It is the deliberate use of mass hostile migration to break a people, a culture, a legal order, a history and a religion, and to rebuild what remains on entirely different terms.

“My one criticism of this alarming tome is that its title does not do justice to how Professor Fenton’s warning reaches beyond the ivory towers of academia and the shores of the United Kingdom, the locus of most of the book’s events. Perhaps: “Attacking Western Democracy, grabbing power and crushing dissent through the capture of academia: an eyewitness account and warning.”

Ultimately, the clarity, provenance, and scope of this book make it an essential resource for anyone seeking to understand the decline of Western Democracy in the early 21st Century, exemplified by the corruption associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

A visibly shaken Anthony Fauci could not even answer what color tie he was wearing as he had to be dragged out to Capitol Hill to answer questions about the government’s COVID-19 response, his private diary, and taxpayer-funded research in Wuhan.

Again and again, Fauci pleaded the Fifth — 111 times in all — even when senators asked him about a folder sitting directly in front of him, what day of the week it was, and whether he would simply turn around and look at people who said their lives were destroyed by COVID-era policies.

Lawmakers warned him over and over: the Fifth Amendment no longer applies to him because of Biden’s blanket pardon. He could admit everything and still walk away without prosecution.

Fauci had total immunity, and he still refused to tell the truth.

Israel is continually falsely accused -- often by countries committing enormous war crimes -- of being a “settler-colonialist” nation, of practicing apartheid, and of genocide against Palestinians. It is excoriated in the United Nations, in European parliaments, by the international media, and by so-called human rights groups. None of the allegations against it are true. They cannot even be substantiated with facts or evidence.

Why is Israel never allowed to convincingly win wars waged against it? Why is it that Israel should bleed in self-defense while aggressors can walk away claiming victory? Why is it that Israel is frequently used by Western nations as a mere tool for their geopolitical ambitions? And why is it that Israel is blamed when plans set in motion by allies go awry?

In its short history, Israel has shown itself to be beyond heroic in defending civilization and the West. Netanyahu has duly earned the title “the Churchill of the Middle East.” Israel’s cowardly detractors, some of whom refused even to let the US use their airbases for strikes against Iran, whose ballistic missiles threaten them, should take the back seat they deserve and pipe down. It is time for the disparagement to stop.

The most important facts about the Iran war are obvious to every informed person in the world. They are, in approximate order of significance and clarity, that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the most odious regimes in the history of the nation state, is detested by a majority of the Iranian population, and has produced provocations for decades that would justify declarations of war from many countries as it has been the principal state sponsor of terrorism for all of its 47-year history.

Without Trump’s intervention, Iran would by now have deployed intermediate missiles with nuclear warheads capable of reaching London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, and everywhere in the Middle East. The absence of a general state of thanksgiving in the world that the United States has prevented this is a distressing reflection on the state of international opinion, including in Canada.

The United States, with the full cooperation of its official allies and the collaboration of Israel and all of Iran’s immediate Arab neighbors, should do the necessary to restore responsible government in Iran as swiftly and bloodlessly as possible. The Americans and their allies are more than halfway to a solution of this terrible problem at relatively modest cost to themselves. It is time to finish the job.

A shooting at a Jewish bakery is only the latest in a wave of antisemitic attacks causing a growing number of Canada’s Jews to flee.

Keeping tabs on the world’s oldest prejudice—and the people fighting back—as it once again rears its ugly head.

Gad Saad has lived in Canada since his family fled Lebanon in 1975 after someone showed up at their home to kill them. But last month, the professor of marketing and evolutionary behavioral sciences announced on social media that he had given up on Canada and decided to leave.

“The taxation system is astounding, rendering it nearly impossible to accumulate enough money to truly retire,” Saad wrote about the first reason for his decision. It’s true. The typical Canadian pays 70 percent more in income taxes than the typical American. The second reason is far more alarming. “The government’s open immigration policies have made it unsafe for my family to remain here (due to the exponential increase in Jew-hatred),” he wrote.

Saad said basically the same thing on Joe Rogan’s podcast in May. “I’m now leaving in large part because it became difficult for me, if not impossible, to be a high-profile Jewish professor who supports the right of Israel to exist.” Saad had already taken a leave of absence from Concordia University in Montreal and will continue working as a scholar at the Declaration of Independence Center for the Study of American Freedom at the University of Mississippi.

Saad’s decision made it even more painfully obvious that Canada has an antisemitism problem. As of mid-July, B’nai Brith had documented 27 violent antisemitic incidents so far this year, compared with 10 during all of 2025. As The Free Press’s Rupa Subramanya reported in June, Jews account for about one percent of Canada’s population of 41.6 million, but were the targets of more hate crimes reported by police in 2024 than all other religious groups combined.

Over the weekend, two locations of Jewish-owned Kiva’s Bagel Bakery in Toronto were attacked, including one with gunfire. Last week, police charged a pro-Palestinian demonstrator who encouraged terrorism and “harm against members of the Israeli and Jewish communities” at protests in Toronto in 2024, alleging that he was associated with Hamas.

Canadian prime minister Mark Carney has said that “Canada’s civic compact is failing Jewish Canadians” and that his government “is fully committed” to ending “the crisis of antisemitism in Canada today.” But it is too little, too late for some Jewish Canadians.

From renowned physicians and educators to entrepreneurs and community leaders, Canada is losing some of its most extraordinary citizens because they no longer feel welcome or safe in the place they called home. Jews from Canada and several other countries recently asked the U.S. State Department to allow them to immigrate as refugees or under another form of protected status, though no decision has been announced. Aaliyah from Canada rose 51 percent between 2023 and 2025, reaching a record high, according to the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem.

An average of more than 10,000 Canadians are leaving the country every month, the highest level of emigration in Canada’s recorded history, according to the federal government. Those numbers are not broken down by religion or other groups, but many of those who are leaving are well-paid and highly educated.

Michael Sachs never imagined that he would leave Canada. He grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he raised a family, built a career, and became a leader in the city’s Jewish community. Last year, though, Michael and his wife Shira, a teacher, decided to move to the U.S. with their two young children. Speaking to me from his new home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sachs, 45, said that antisemitism became so pervasive and normalized across Canada after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, that leaving went from implausible to inevitable.

But it wasn’t just the antisemitism. It was the sense that no one in power appeared genuinely interested in it or committed to actually addressing it. “Between the inaction of the province and the new federal government, we knew nothing would change,” Sachs said. “In fact, we’ve seen from afar that their inaction has actually made things worse.”

Tulsa Tomorrow, an organization that has been working since 2017 to attract Jewish families to Oklahoma’s most populous city, said that it has been contacted by roughly 600 Jewish Canadian households since December. Those households include about 2,000 people in all.

Chloe Brandt left Canada for Israel almost exactly two years ago. She was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, but felt “an absence of real, genuine dialogue” about antisemitism or anything related to Israel while she was an undergraduate student at the University of Alberta. “Universities in Canada no longer foster respectful disagreement or serious discussion. Instead, I felt increasingly isolated from my friends and from the people around me, just because of who I was, and what I believe in,” she told me.

Brandt, 23, is now in graduate school at Tel Aviv University and has no plans to return to Canada. “Canada isn’t my home anymore. It hasn’t felt like my home for a very long time, and I don’t see a future for myself there any longer,” she said. Her thinking is also motivated by what she sees as a major “shift in Canadian culture” in which “the way you’re treated in Canada is increasingly structured around what category you fit into and whether you match a particular framework of identity or politics or not.”

Aedan O’Connor has lived in Miami for almost a decade. What she sees happening in Canada seems even more widespread than what led to her decision to pack her bags and leave the country that her family has called home for five generations. She blamed rapidly changing demographics, largely due to immigration, a focus on being not American rather than uniquely Canadian, social and political “capitulation” to Islamism, and surging antisemitism. Antisemitism is the downstream outcome of other major social and political issues that have crept in and taken hold over time—“a symptom of something darker,” she said.

In Miami, O’Connor, 29, has built an event management and ticketing platform. “There is a wonderful culture of innovation and success in Miami, which allowed me to build my company from scratch. I’m excited to raise a family here,” she told me.

Last week’s terrorism charges against Ahmad Hassan Hajahmada, 33, the pro-Palestinian protester known for his vile antisemitic rhetoric, served as another stark reminder of the ongoing sense of danger that is driving some Canadian Jews to emigrate, while leaving many others uncertain about their future in the country.

Last year, police arrested three men for allegedly attempting to kidnap Jewish women in Toronto. That led to terrorism charges against one of the men, who was accused of providing support to ISIS and conspiracy to commit murder for the terrorist group. In April, a Pakistani national in Canada on a study permit pleaded guilty to plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on the one-year anniversary of October 7. Prosecutors said that he told an undercover officer, “We could rack up easily a lot of Jews.”

And while most of the antisemitic incidents in Canada and elsewhere fall below the threshold of terrorism, there remains a deep sense of unease within the country’s Jewish community due to the quieter forms of hatred and bigotry that pervade daily life: shootings of Jewish institutions; vandalism of Jewish-owned businesses, homes, and synagogues; and assaults, acts of intimidation, and various other hate crimes.

Alex Fish, a marketing executive who owns his own company and founded Bonim B’yachad, a program that trains high-school students to recognize antisemitism before they arrive at college, left Canada for South Bend, Indiana, in 2018. He anticipated then what many Jewish Canadians are dealing with now.

“I didn’t leave Canada because of a single incident that happened to me,” Fish, 37, told me. “I left because I read the trajectory early and acted on it, and everything I’ve watched happen. . . has confirmed rather than challenged that decision. Canada is past the point of no return.”

After seeing Canadian immigration figures rise sharply, particularly from countries that had purged or persecuted their Jewish populations, like Syria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, Fish got the sense that Canada’s security dynamic was going to change quickly. “I told my wife that we needed a plan to leave, whether to Israel or to the United States.”

Going forward, Canadian leaders—officials and lawmakers to provincial politicians, mayors, police chiefs, university presidents, corporate executives, and community organizers—should treat this crisis not as merely a Jewish problem that needs to be managed but as a national tragedy that demands an urgent and effective response.

The Jews who are leaving Canada or wondering if they should aren’t simply one community among many making a lifestyle choice. They are a warning sign. What those who are giving up on Canada, with their packed bags and passports, is something that no serious country can afford to ignore.

In twenty electrifying minutes last week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the political terrorism conference in Washington DC with a blistering speech identifying the rot undermining the west.

For these architects of revolutionary violence, the towering achievement of our civilization – for them it’s an unbearable humiliation, a reminder of what they cannot do and a reminder of what they cannot be. So they choose instead to destroy. They attack pipelines; they attack railroads; they attack power grids and laboratories, the physical embodied symbols of power and invention and achievement. Today’s far-left terrorists can raise money in one country; they can host their communications in a second country; they can receive training in a third country; they can recruit militants in a fourth country, and then together strike a target in a fifth country. And so, we have no choice but to confront this menace together. We will either cooperate across our borders or the terrorists will continue to exploit the gaps between them.

The Church of England has legitimised a radical, revisionist document that is steeped in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Last week, the General Synod voted overwhelmingly to ‘hear’ Kairos II. Parishes across England will therefore be encouraged to look at it, in the words of Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally, as a ‘heartfelt expression of the lived experience of Palestinian Christians’.

Kairos II can only be described as an extreme document. Despite being supposedly written by Palestinian Christians, it reads like a press release from Hamas. It praises the ‘hundreds of thousands of martyrs’ who have been ‘left behind’ by the war in Gaza. It claims that ‘Zionists’ want to expel Palestinians from their land. And it describes Israel’s war with Hamas as the ‘continuation of the Zionist project to seize all of Palestine’. It even includes phrases such as ‘arrogant Jewish supremacy’. It is clear that it believes Israel should not exist.

To ‘hear’ a document is not the same as to endorse it as the official position of the church. And Mullally was careful to say that the vote did not mean that the church agreed with everything said in Kairos II. But let’s not get bogged down in semantics – by voting to ‘hear’ Kairos II, whatever that means in practice, the church has given air to anti-Semitism. There is no other way of looking at it.

Of course, this is not the first time the Christian church has lent credibility to lies about Jews. In 1144, the monk Thomas of Monmouth invented the story of William of Norwich, a boy supposedly murdered by Jews. There was no evidence, but that didn’t matter. The local Benedictine monks and the Bishop of Norwich eagerly adopted and amplified the lie. The first fully developed blood libel was born and spread across Europe, triggering waves of violence against Jewish communities.

In 1255, Lincoln produced its own version: Little Saint Hugh, a child allegedly tortured and killed by Jews in a grotesque ritual. Nineteen Jews were hanged on the strength of that fantasy. Church authorities and the English Crown promoted and institutionalised the myth, building a shrine in Lincoln Cathedral to draw pilgrims and cash. This institutional backing laid the foundations for the horrific myth that Jews ritualistically drain and consume the blood of Christian children – a lie that persisted through the centuries and was eventually weaponised by the Nazis.

These and other lies and conspiracy theories manufactured the permission for pogroms, expulsions and the mass murder of Jews globally. People believed them because trusted institutions – churches chief among them – told them they should.

Endorsing Kairos II without this history of anti-Semitism would have been bad enough. But given the Christian church’s record of Jew hatred, voting in favour of this document makes it significantly worse. It has lent authority to the modern blood libel that Israel is deliberately murdering Palestinians as part of a genocidal campaign. Kairos II also leans on a theology in which Jesus is refashioned as a Palestinian martyr – a modern update of the medieval ‘Christ killer’ myth. It even offers moral cover for the 7 October massacres by framing them inside a narrative of righteous resistance.

The church’s endorsement of Kairos II has left Britain’s Jewish community shattered. UK chief rabbi Ephraim Mirvis said: ‘It is truly shocking that a document which purports to speak in the name of truth contains so much falsehood.’ He also warned that it risks undermining relations between Christians and Jews. Indeed, it already has.

Here is the double betrayal. The first victims are British Jews, watching an ancient institution rehabilitate a modernised version of the oldest lies in Christian anti-Semitism. The second victim is less discussed but no less wronged: Middle Eastern Christians. Kairos II places the blame for Christian suffering on Israel, while staying entirely silent on the reasons Christian populations have collapsed across the Palestinian territories. It is a silent exodus driven only partially by the conflict, but also by land-grabbing from Muslim clans, as well as extortion and Sharia-based discrimination under the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. It says nothing about the Christians harassed out of Bethlehem and Gaza by their own neighbours. Instead, it pins the blame exclusively on the Jews.

With a few honourable exceptions, Synod chose to ignore the fact that one of the few places in the Middle East where Arab Christians hold full rights, worship freely and are growing rather than vanishing is Israel. That isn’t the case in the Palestinian territories, and legitimising this text does nothing to improve the lives or safety of Christians in the region.

History shows us that poisonous documents like Kairos II seldom remain theoretical. They outlive those who draw them up and can even end in bloodshed. The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion – which gave rise to the belief that influential Jews rule the world – remains popular, particularly in Muslim countries in the Middle East. Let’s be under no illusion: by promoting Kairos II, at a time of unprecedented anti-Semitism and rising threats to British Jews, the church has chosen to fan the flames of prejudice.

The church didn’t have to choose. It could have stood with persecuted Christians in the Middle East by naming their actual, Islamist persecutors and taken a position more conducive to genuine peace in the Middle East. Instead, the church has reached for that trusty old hatchet: it’s all the fault of the Jews.
