Glenn Beck: America’s Defender

As we make our individual ways through the mysteries of this life, we see that in it no one has the answers; no one sees every turn in the road; no one achieves a self-mastery that would keep things always under control; no one can avoid lurches to the side or the occasional fall into a ditch. When everything is said and done you may not agree with all the conclusions Glenn Beck has drawn from his life. But if you have the courage and empathy to see the man as he is you will not fail to appreciate that in Glenn Beck we and our country have a great, compassionate and brave friend; and in this hour of our nation’s peril, an indispensable one.

War Over Wilders

Yes, Wilders stumbled with his line about “fewer Moroccans,” but on a European landscape crowded with empty-suit politicians who don’t really stand for anything except for their own careers, whose approach to Islam and immigration is to recite facile multicultural mantras, and whose only real qualification for anything is that they never, ever offend (precisely because they strenuously skirt the topics that matter the most), Wilders is the real thing: a brave, selfless man determined to steer the ship of state through turbulent waters safely into port. The Dutch would be fools to throw him overboard.

It’s time to reclaim Islam from the fanatics. Here’s how by Irshad Manji

I am not a moderate Muslim, I am a reformist. Rooting out corrupt practices can never be an act of mere moderation. Restoring integrity, or wholeness, is always a radical act. It transcends notions of left and right, emphasising the need to think independently. In Islam, independent thought has a strong history, not that you’d know it from the news about bombings, beheadings and bloodshed. ‘Jihad’ has become part of the West’s vocabulary and with good reason

David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise on Sharia and the Freedom of Speech

Here is a superb video of a conference on sharia that my ace lawyers, David Yerushalmi and Robert Muise of the American Freedom Law Center, did in Cincinnati last week. Our landmark American Freedom Defense Initiative freedom of speech cases were highlighted before a standing-room-only crowd. This is a must-see video

UK: Devout Muslim Who Trained 7/7 Jihad Bomber Sets Up Islamic School

A terror suspect who trained the ringleader of the 7/7 terrorist bombings in London has been allowed to set up an Islamic primary school, teaching children as young as three. Pathetic. The Brits have lost it. Their descent into dhimmitude has been shocking to see. This man should be imprisoned or deported. Instead, he is setting up a primary school. And meanwhile, counter-jihadists such as Robert Spencer and me are barred from the country, while jihadists like this are free to spread their poisonous rhetoric.

The Port of Vancouver Dispute Is An Immigration Displacement Issue

Our media have presented the recent strike at the Port of Vancouver as a complicated conflict between workers and management. That is only partly true. In fact, it is a simple immigration issue. In particular, it is an issue of a very large group of  low-wage, low-skilled unnecessary immigrants using the practice of under-cutting  to overwhelm mainstream Canadian workers and displace them. In a weird twist of logic, these people have compounded the injury  by then complaining about being underpaid and demanding wages similar to those paid to the Canadians they displaced.

The Middle East Forum Debates Moderate Islam

Raymond Ibrahim’s recent piece for CBN, “Why ‘Moderate Islam’ is an Oxymoron,” has prompted questions because it contradicts my views. In this case, Ibrahim and I agree on the need to stand up for liberal values and combat Islamism; we disagree on how to do so, including the possibility of encouraging Islam’s reform. Actually, this is not so difficult: Require agreement on basic goals but debate methods.
